the adventures of soulflyhoney uprising underground (continues…)

————————————————————————————————————————————-

Word has been both my greatest challenge and spiritual sanctuary. I am currently working to understand its power and allow that power to grow within my own being. I am learning to recognize, listen, see, and understand its meaning.  It is as if I am birthing from the inside outward and connecting to a greater part of myself.  Words transform reality and awakens the senses. Words create change.

Here I study, create and showcase poets and poetry of all styles as I learn my craft and blossom into the reality i create from my own heart…

Please stay connected as I develop, empower and blossom…

Artwork is spontaneous for me.
There is a rich hue
I’m compelled to work with
that reflects a tree of possibility in life and that vibration
moves each piece…

biopict_bwsmall1daria  (ria takharu) is the “Queen of the Beads” and brainchild behind the soulflyhoney lifestyle company (organicsoul22.c0m). She studied English at the City University of New York and the University of Maryland, and jewelry workshops at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

ria takharu has studied the healing arts at Michael Tierra’s EastWest School of Herbology as a Professional Planetary Herbalist candidate, Clayton College of Natural Health in Holistic Nutrition and Naturopathy, studied yoga at Tranquil Space Yoga in Washington, DC. She holds certifications in Graphic Multimedia design and development, as well as, Reflexology (Focus On Healing Institute), and Aromatherapy (American Naturopathic and Holistic Association), and is blessed to have studied with Queen Afua, Ndjidika N. Olatunde, ND,PhD., Sri Dr. Prem Deben, (Sivananda yogi and instructor), and other local healers of many mediums and talents. Member of the American Herbalist Guild (AHG).

ria takharu’s love of creative energy and activism brings forth continued artistic exploration of the sacred path and tradition of performance art in poetry and music as a tool to serve community and school-age children. As YeYe Bgirl Songbird Medicine and Other Stories Project, Ria brings an array of mixed media and interdisciplinary arts as a tool to reflect and create personal, community and global awareness and empowerment. Her earlier works includes a two-part interdisciplinary arts workshop series called “Celebrating the Ancestors in the Movement: Our Legacy of Resistance” during the 2005 Black History Month for school age children in artist-teacher and poet laureate John Murillo of CipherStudio at the Children’s Studio School. Her e-Studio (Earth Studio) was used to weave the past, the present and insightful questions about our future synergistically exploring storytelling, original spoken word, dance, music, visual arts, and the literary works of famous artists and writers who were active in the Civil Rights era, such as, James Baldwin, W.E.B. DuBois, Langston Hughes, Amiri Baraka, Sonia Sanchez and others.

“Mama Daria” introduced the often overlooked history of Black Native Americans and Black Meso-Americans, and those famous writers and artists who share in the rich mix of African and Indigenous ancestry. Children visited the mythical and sacred meanings of the elements and understood the importance of honoring those ancestors, family members, well-known and “unknown” heroes and heroines who predated the Civil Rights era. In addition, this project resulted in the creation of a non published children’s book (created for her daughter, Kaya Nefertari), a classroom newsletter, and an online CipherStudio interactive curriculum-study website for parents, and students.

“In this life, I am here to create and express ‘truth’, and that truth is healing that carries with it energy to bring greater awareness to the mind, body and spirit. There is continuity there. And in that light we find our selves. We realize through clarity that we are whole. And in our wholeness we are able to activate greater change and balance in our lives, and world.”
